This oriole is both quite large, due in part to it's long bill and tail, and quite striking with it"s contrasting black and yellowish-orange plumage. It was reported in Bentsen State Park that this is the 6th record for sightings in Texas though it is reported to occur regularly in Arizona. This site is famous (or rather: notorious) among birdwatchers for its hellish weather - usually it is bitter cold, with harsh wind, fog and rain. We however had a bright, clear day, so we stood little chance of finding the 4 specialties: Golden-backed Mountain-Tanager, Rufous-browed Hemispingus, Pardusco & Bay-vented Cotinga. Yes, we dipped all!
