The International Birding and Research Centre (IBRCE) Eilat, Israel by Mark Thomas and Jenny Atkins (RSPB)

The IBRCE has a purpose built modern ringing laboratory. Here a Great Spotted Cuckoo is being processed.

Nightingale is a common passage migrant (see the mist-net on Sunday) with around 8 birds ringed on a typical early spring day. Both races of Bluethroat are common at the ringing station in late March and around 10 Wrynecks are processed daily at this time.

Black-eared Wheatear is a common migrant in Eilat during early spring. The bird shown here is of the eastern race melanoleuca.

Flocks of migrant Yellow Wagtails in Eilat consist of a wide range
of races including birds from the steppes of Central Asia known as 'beema'
(see the mist-net on Thursday). Amongst the many warblers which pass through Eilat, Orphean Warblers provide a real treat. Here we have a 1st year male......

and on the final page there's an adult bird.

This first-year male Great Spotted Cuckoo was one of the highlights
of our trip.

Good numbers of waders were present on the reserve including both Kentish and Little-ringed Plovers which were caught using several "walk-in" wader traps. Other waders caught included Little Stint, Dunlin and Greater Sand Plover.
