Surfbirds Share A Photo

Tufted Puffin , New Brunswick, Canada, Machias Seal Island, July 8, 2014

A Tufted Puffin which has been seen on several occasions at the Atlantic Puffin colony on Machias Seal Island in the Bay of Fundy / Gulf of Maine in Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada (some people consider this island to be part of Maine, USA). This bird was first discovered on June 17th by lighthouse keeper, Ralph Eldridge. This photo was taken by Durlan Ingersoll, first mate aboard the Day's Catch tour boat, operated by Sea Watch Tours out of Seal Cove, Grand Manan Island, NB. This represents only the second record for North America away from the west coast.
