Hi Jan
Interesting to read the discussions (especially since Google Translate offers its own free interpretations and rendered 'Chestnut-eared Bunting' as 'Rosy-cheeked Sparrow'). I need to look at a map to see just how isolated the locality is!
The UK bird was a first-winter male on Fair Isle, Shetland from 15th-20th October, with a week separating it from the first Western Palaearctic Rufous-tailed Robin at the same locality. And there was one of those in Norfolk a week and a half ago ...

Very nice, but please can we have some rarer eastern birds further south...

THANKS Brian
you mean of course further south down to LINOSA island where I'm going in 2 days :certifiable::beer::laugh:
Ottavio Janni is already there alone and found in 2 days 1 YBW, 1 Barred W and once again a Desert Grey Shrike, in full juvenile plumage !!!!!!!!!
Ciao

Hey Young Andrea
I hope that Linosa is good for you; I am sure some of these eastern birds will filter down to you, but I reckon a Chestnut-eared Bunting would look better on my list than yours:laugh:
Ciao
Brian
