Evening Simon,
That is a real eye opener! Thirty species of orchids. That is enough to make me consider a trip specifically to look for orchids. Thanks for taking the time to compile that informative page.
Regards,
Andrew.

Also, check out this site.

This site tends to have lots of 'modern' thinking on splits; e.g. http://www.guenther-blaich.de/artseite.php?par=Ophrys+battandieri&abs=artrgP-

Hi Simon and Brian,
thanks for sharing your information about orchids. I'm also an orchid lover. They are like jewels on the garigue.
At the moment the Pyramidal Orchids are in bloom. Most of the orchid species in Malta bloom in early spring.
