I took about 30 pictures of this bird while in Scotland last week. It woke me up at 04.30 one morning and I managed to see Otter thanks to it, but what is it?

Hi Dave - Chaffinch, male

PS - enjoyed your Polecat video from my local patch!

Some educated guesses there and brought to an untimely end before I could post the next clues.

Well done Ben & thanks for your comments on my Polecat video, second best tick of the year after Collared Flycatcher and before Eastern Bonelli's Warbler

Just for the record, some prepared clues & a more obliging shot of the noisy little blighter.

Bugger,

Chaffinch was my first guess on the pink breast, but the "Scotty" connection made me stick my neck out.

Apologies for leading you up the garden path Colin, I deliberately avoided using 'Scottish bird' to describe it, maybe I should have said British but that would have been inaccurate too.

If it had been a Scot bill that had woken me I wouldn't have been so annoyed with him!
