Is this a full adult male Brian? We managed to connect with the adult male in Thailand recently at Bong Kai (Chiang sen) lake and the head was considerably greener and there was much more white on the rear flanks. Both of these could I suppose be affected by light and angle. Dan

The HK bird is a female. Notice the dark eye, rusty loral area and brownish head.

cheers, alan

many thanks Alan, I should have realised re the dark eye. And yet the bird's head definitely has more than a hint of green to it. Dan

Dan: "brownish", ie browner than the male (but still green, especially at the rear); cheers, alan
