Highlights of a superb winter trip in 1984: Finding the first Black-shouldered Kite for Hong Kong, drake Baikal Teal, Baer's Pochard, Black-faced Spoonbill, Grey-headed Lapwing, Steppe and Greater Spotted Eagles (Mai Po), White-bellied Sea Eagle and Lesser Coucal (Cheung Chau Island), Rufous and Red Turtle Doves and Duarian Redstart (Mong Tseng), male Hainan Blue Flycatcher (Hong Kong Island), Plumbeous Water-Redstart (Hong Kong Island) and Black-tailed Gull (Nim Wan), plus the expected eastern species, such as White's and Grey-backed Thrushes, Black-faced and Yellow-breasted Buntings and a flock of over 60 Dusky Thrushes. |
