Re-submitted since the crash....Best birds were the Murrelet (naturally), White-billed Divers off Lewis (found whilst I was peeing!), clawing back 2 tarts - Red-eyed Vireo and Black Kite and finding the Rose-coloured Starling at Portland. Lowlights were busting up with Widerscope Boys (but we're pals again now) and missing the Scilly Roller by "less than 10 seconds, mate". Concentrating on Surrey micro-moths next year, but still on the scene and booked in for a coupla good trips!!! |

Updated 25/09 (UK400 282) Me and The Pirate formed an unlikely alliance with the Epsom RSPB group, and on a visit to the 'jumpers paradise' of Beachy Head, managed to at last add wryneck to my year list. Cracking views of the immature night heron were afforded to us at Weir Woods on the way back. Spent Sunday outnumbered by dog walkers, cyclists, joggers et al at Hengistbury Head, where the sun shone strongly and the birds remained hidden. As the sun lost its strength in the late afternoon, an osprey took a fish from the harbour. Fantastic! We left the marbled duck (of unknown origin) to the listers who chase pelicans and grosbeaks! |
