Zambia, with Black-cheeked Lovebird, Bamboo Warbler, Bocage's & Bar-winged Weavers, Black-necked Eremomela, Black-and-Rufous Swallow and Black-faced Canary; Gabon, arguably my top Africa trip EVER for rarities: point-blank Grey-throated Rail, 20 mins with Oriole Cuckooshrike, Sandy Scops- and Maned Owls at day roosts, Lyre-tailed Honeyguide displaying at <50m distance, 9 White-crested Bitterns in a morning (along with 22 African Finfoots, 24 Hartlaub's Duck, 3 White-bellied Kingfishers, 1 Congo Serpent-Eagle & 1 Long-tailed Hawk), Finsch's Francolin, Black-chinned & Loango Weavers, Verreaux's Batis; African River Martin, Rosy and Black-headed Bee-eaters (to wrap up the world's bee-eaters); Quail-Plover, Lyre-tailed Honeyguide, Red-headed Picathartes, Nkulengu Rail etc, amongst the 627 species with Rockjumper Birding Tours in Cameroon in March |
