This morning a mate of mine Matt Knott brought around this Convolvulous Hawkmoth that he had caught overnight in Topsham for me to see & photograph .
I then went down to Bowling Green Marsh for a look & I saw 14 LITTLE EGRET ,
20+ GREENSHANK , a SPOTTED REDSHANK that was very distant , 2 CURLEW SANDPIPER , 2 KNOT , 20+ DUNLIN & my first RUFF of the year .
This morning I went down to Dawlish Warren to look for the 2 Wryneck that were seen yesterday ! but I was out of luck & didn`t see either bird , & all I did see were a few LONG TAILED TIT , a single WHITETHROAT & a COMMON KESTREL .
Also seen was a Wasp Spider , a Clouded Yellow Butterfly & a Southern Hawker Dragonfly.
Later in the day I went to Bowling Green Marsh in Topsham for a look & I saw 8 LITTLE STINT , 3 KNOT , 2 CURLEW SANDPIPER , a few GREENSHANK , 2 SPOTTED REDSHANK , 4 AVOCET , 2 BAR TAILED GODWIT & a PEREGRINE FALCON .
Seen on the River Clyst/Bowling Green Marsh area in Topsham today were 6 LITTLE EGRET , 2 CURLEW SANDPIPER , 2 LITTLE STINT , 80+ DUNLIN , 20+ GREENSHANK , 2 SPOTTED REDSHANK , a KNOT & a GREEN SANDPIPER .
I then went down to Dawlish Warren & saw a my first WRYNECK of the year , a WHEATEAR & a couple of SKYLARK .
This morning Brian Heasman & myself went down to Berry Head in South Devon to do a seawatch , we arrived in the dark & was greeted by a calling TAWNY OWL in the lower woods .
We then made our way down to the seawatching point in the Quarry & started our watch , we soon started to pick up numerous KITTIWAKE & GANNET going through & then we got our first BALEARIC SHEARWATER & at the end of our watch we had counted 102 of these birds a good count for here !
Also seen were single MANX SHEARWATER & SOOTY SHEARWATER , 2 ARCTIC SKUA an Adult & a Juvenile bird , & Brian had a GREAT SKUA but I missed this one .
Other birds seen were 2 PEREGRINE FALCON ( with one catching a pigeon right in front of us ) , 2 COMMON RAVEN , 2 CIRL BUNTING & a WHITETHROAT .
Well at last I have my blog up & running again ! so I went down to Bowling Green Marsh in Topsham for a look & saw the following .
On the last remaining dead tree on the far side of the marsh there was a Juvenile Male PEREGRINE FALCON that sat there for quite a while until this OSPREY came along & took its place , waders on the marsh included 2 KNOT , a SPOTTED REDSHANK , 8 GREENSHANK , numerous COMMON REDSHANK & BLACK TAILED GODWIT , a few DUNLIN & 3 AVOCET .
I then walked down to the far end of the marsh where I saw 2 Wasp Spider`s .
