The south-easterly winds didn't amount to much, with just 1 willow warbler and 1 whitethroat seen at Galley this morning. 1 juvenile ruff was at Clogheen Marsh this morning. On the seawatching front, 1 great shearwater, 1 arctic skua, 3+ bonxies and a few sooty shearwaters were seen off Galley this morning.

A hint of south-east in the wind this morning brought 1 sedge warbler, 2 willow warblers and 1 wheatear to the patch. Two fin whales were seen off Galley this morning.

A good south-westerly blow brought better seawatching off Galley today. Highlights were 1 little shearwater, 3 great shearwaters, 9 balearic shearwaters, 30 sooty shearwaters, 1 pomarine skua, several bonxies and a 'blue' fulmar. Not much moving this morning off Galley - 3 puffins was the best. A 3rd year yellow-legged gull was at Owenahincha beach this morning and Clogheen Marsh had a juvenile wood sandpiper this afternoon.

Drizzle and fog hampered birding today. A few bonxies and arctic skuas were off Galley in the morning, with a 1st-w yellow-legged gull at Ring.
The fog lifted at Galley for an hour this afternoon, when 1 great shearwater, 1 balearic shearwater, 200 manx shearwaters, 20 storm petrels and 1 puffin were seen. Rosscarbery had 25 dunlin and 1 1st-w common tern this afternoon and there was a green sandpiper at White's Marsh this evening. | Other Irish news

A pelagic trip out of Unionhall this morning was a bit disappointing, with 4 sooty shearwaters, 2 bonxies, 4 arctic terns and c.80 storm petrels the bird highlights, although the Murphy's in Dinty's pub afterwards was good too. 2 cory's shearwaters, 2 great shearwaters, 3 large shearwater sp, 2 sooty shearwaters and 6 common scoter were seen off Galley this morning, along with good numbers of common dolphins. A 2nd summer/3rd winter type yellow-legged gull was at Owenahincha mid-morning.
2 ruff were still at White's Marsh this afternoon, along with 6 greenshank and 6 dunlin.
Seawatching this evening off Galley produced c.60 great shearwaters (although most were v. distant), c.30 large shearwater sp, 4 sooty shearwaters, 2 balearic shearwaters, 12 bonxies, 2 arctic terns, good numbers of storm petrels and at least 6 common dolphins. | Other Irish news

Another v quiet seawatch off Galley this morning, despite promising winds and squally showers. Manx shearwaters were moving through in bursts, but the only other species of 'note' were 1 common scoter east and a common tern west, which was a welcome year tick for the patch (106).

a change in the wind
The wind has finally gone round to south-west, bringing renewed hope for seawatching - unfortunately it was still pretty dead this morning, with just 10 common scoter heading west, and a few manx shearwaters.
