Alvecote Pools SSSI

A adult male Hobby performed extremely well in the railway corner of Mill Pool this evening.  It was seen to catch, dismantle and eat several Dragonflies and Damselflies.  Also on Mill Pool was the resident Whooper x Mute Swan hybrid and four Common Terns including two juveniles.

Over on Pretty Pigs Pool there was no sign of yesterday's eclipse drake Red-crested Pochard but the escaped drake Hooded Merganser (in eclipse plumage) was seen after a long absence.  There was a slight increase in Common Terns numbers with five adults present along Orchard Bank.
