Alvecote Pools SSSI

The highlight today was an eclipse drake Red-crested Pochard on Pretty Pigs Pool.  I did attempt to get some pics but the bird was always way too distant.  The bird can be viewed from the paddock just along the road from the pub as well as from other the other side of the lake near the Old Orchard.  Also in the area were 3 Greylag Geese, a Common Sandpiper (feeding in the paddock), 2 Common Tern and a Green Woodpecker

A quick visit to the rapidly drying out Anker Flashes produced no waders at all except 22 Northern Lapwing.  It looks as though the juvenile Little Ringed Plover has moved on.
