Tuesday 6 October 2009 - BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER and BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER on the Azores!

Monday 5th October 2009

Just like their namesakes Real Madrid in the world of soccer, the European Rarity Champions Real Azores can be pretty greedy at times.  Today they scored two big signings on par with both Ronaldo and Kaka when a BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER and a BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER were found on Corvo!  I realise that the Azores are a lot closer to the States but news like this gives me some hope for my forthcoming trip to the Isles of Scilly.

I make no apologies for plugging this blog again.  Please click BIRDING CORVO 2009  to find out more about the X-Factor that the Azores has during Autumn.  It really is a crackin' read!

Forget Scilly - it's so 1980's! It must be having the worst autumn start on record. Still time to turn things round, but it's heyday is but a distant memory...........

Arch Responds: "It's so 1980's!"..... like your haircut Mr Nonymous! :o)

Wednesday 7 October 2009 - Scillies - Halcyon Days...

I birded there every year from 81-92 then back again in 99 and still managed 3 ticks - mid 90s would take some beating, had to start taking Sun Blocker to shield me from the reflection of Parula Warblers and Yellowthroat etc! I am still envious of anybody who can afford to take the trip when I look at what I have to bash around West of Brum - best of luck old boy...

Arch Responds: WOW! Thanks for the link 'OB', I will be sure to check it out.

About Me

Aye up folks! My name is Adam 'Archie' Archer, a birder from the West Midlands of England where the birds maybe slightly sh*te but the birders are among the best in the World. This is simply a blog about my birding experiences from my beloved Isles of Great Britain. I have been fortunate to see many great birding spectacles from Unst at the highest tip of Shetland to pelagic trips off the coast of the Isles of Scilly. I have also included sightings from around my home in North Warwickshire and my local patch Alvecote Pools a Site of Special Scientific Interest that straddles the Warwickshire & Staffordshire borders. Birding is a great hobby.... so please relax, smile & enjoy it. WARNING: SOME CONTENT MAY OFFEND! PLEASE NOTE THAT ANY COMMENTS LEFT ON THIS BLOG ARE NOT NECESSARILY THE VIEWS OF MY GOODSELF.... SO THERE!
