EYE-BROWED THRUSH on Orkney

Orkney's superb run of top notch rares continued today with a 1st winter EYE-BROWED THRUSH dropping in on North Ronaldsay.  This ties Orkney Albion and Shetland Rangers at the top of the Autumn British Rarity Premiership with the Albion just edging it on goal difference because of the SANDHILL CRANE.  Their lead however may well be extended as Paul Higson has received a report from a reliable source about a possible American style Flycatcher species at Burray.  What could it be?  WILLOW FLYCATCHER, ALDER FLYCATCHER.... or maybe even ACADIAN FLYCATCHER or LEAST FLYCATCHER?  Let's hope it is relocated.

Interesting article on this genus and ID issues by a Yank Birder on Surfbirds - worth a look even if only to confuse you with any 1st Winter-type that you are lucky or unlucky enough to come across...

Arch Responds: Cheers old lad, I'll have a look. Still need this one despite having the chance to go for a few in the 1990's.

About Me

Aye up folks! My name is Adam 'Archie' Archer, a birder from the West Midlands of England where the birds maybe slightly sh*te but the birders are among the best in the World. This is simply a blog about my birding experiences from my beloved Isles of Great Britain. I have been fortunate to see many great birding spectacles from Unst at the highest tip of Shetland to pelagic trips off the coast of the Isles of Scilly. I have also included sightings from around my home in North Warwickshire and my local patch Alvecote Pools a Site of Special Scientific Interest that straddles the Warwickshire & Staffordshire borders. Birding is a great hobby.... so please relax, smile & enjoy it. WARNING: SOME CONTENT MAY OFFEND! PLEASE NOTE THAT ANY COMMENTS LEFT ON THIS BLOG ARE NOT NECESSARILY THE VIEWS OF MY GOODSELF.... SO THERE!
