VEERY - Isles of Scilly United 2 Shetland Rangers 2

Back O' the net! Rangers are back in this game with a the discovery of a VEERY on the outpost of Foula. Yesterday Rangers hit the bar and the post with both PECHORA PIPIT and BUFF-BELLIED PIPIT being found on the very same island.

If accepted this will be just the 8th record of this sweet, little American Thrush to hit the British Isles. There have been two previous records in Cornwall (1970 and 1999), two records for Devon (1987 and 1997) and one record each for the Western Isles (1995), Orkney (2002) and Shetland (2005). Amazingly the Isles of Scilly have yet to receive one... maybe this year.

Aye up folks! My name is Adam 'Archie' Archer, a birder from the West Midlands of England where the birds maybe slightly sh*te but the birders are among the best in the World. This is simply a blog about my birding experiences from my beloved Isles of Great Britain. I have been fortunate to see many great birding spectacles from Unst at the highest tip of Shetland to pelagic trips off the coast of the Isles of Scilly. I have also included sightings from around my home in North Warwickshire and my local patch Alvecote Pools a Site of Special Scientific Interest that straddles the Warwickshire & Staffordshire borders.
