I had the pleasure of assisting with the ringing at the Haven this morning and it turned out to be a corker. I am still very early in my training so I was trusted with recording all the biometric data, not an easy task at times.
From first light it was onvious that it was going to be excellent for passerines as the nets filled and we began processing the birds. At about 7:30, Trevor Codlin came back with a "special" bird and this turned out to be a bird that most birders have only ever seen in the hand, an Aquatic Warbler. The bird was Identified as an adult using the streaking on the flanks amongst other features and a few pictures were taken before the bird was ringed and released.

In total we had 240 birds, including 74 Grasshopper Warblers. Others included Sedge, Reed and Garden Warblers. Blackcaps, Whitethroats and a few Cetti's.

A call to Tony and Steve, saw them only slightly "gripped" as they were watching the Cattle Egret down at Pennington. An enjoyable morning for all members of the Three Amigos, I do believe.
