Recently a combination of Work, Weather and visitors over weekends have curtailed my blog entries somewhat, or should I say clogs. I managed to get away a little early this afternoon so it was straight into Botley Wood to see what was about. I had only been in a few minutes when I bumped into Darren Evans. We chatted a while and he told me he had recently had Purple Hairstreak in part of the wood. A species that would be new for me. I left Darren and headed to the area he mentioned. Sure enough within a few minutes I had several, possibly more Purple Hairstreaks flying around the small Oak I was watching, cheers mate. It was a good day for Butterflies in the wood. I ended up seeing 17 different species. Purple Hairstreak, Botley Wood, 15 July 2009 2 3
