Last weekend saw me in North London visiting parents so I decided to take my dad out to Trent Country Park on the London/Herts border for a short butterfly walk. The most common butterfly by far was Ringlet and every few yards one would take flight in front of us as we walked.

A couple of Painted Ladies were seen and the odd white. Several Large Skippers with one or two early Small Skipper. Every now and then a Meadow Brown would fly by.

Also fairly common were a type of Burnet which I hope I am correct in identifying as Narrow-bordered Five Spot.

Come mid July I will be back there looking for Purple Hairstreak, with pictures to follow, hopefully.
