This afternoon I headed for Titchfield and walked along the canal path returning to the car via Little Posbrook. It turned out to be a very rewarding walk that included not one but two 'patch' ticks - Nuthatch and Little Owl.
I had the Nuthatch shortly after setting off from the car park. The bird was calling from the line of oaks that runs parallel with the canal to the West.
The Little Owl was spotted flying in to a tree near Upper Farm.
Little Owl, Little Posbrook - 26 Jun 09
Other sightings of note included a pair of House Sparrow and a group of fifteen Mistle Thrush.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to get out much this week. However, I was able to identify a moth that flew in to the bathroom one evening while I was having a shower from my rather limited collection of references.
Common Emerald Moth, Fareham - 21 Jun 09
Good birding,
