again regular in the Flashes area, 3 at Rode Pool on the 25th. Bred in Crewe Cemetery

Kestrel

regular in the Flashes area, 3 on the 12th. Bred at Smallwood and MGT

Buzzard

regular in the Flashes area. 10 at EHF on the 29th

Hobby

regular sightings at EHF. A juv at Pyms Lane, Crewe on the 24th, 2 over Sandbach on the 29th, one at Doddington on the 1st and one at Rode Pool on the 25th

Red Kite

one reported from Doddington on the 28th

Peregrine

two records both from EHF

Osprey

one over WLF on the 11th was mobbed by 9 Buzzards. Up to 3 at Doddington throughout the month

Tawny Owl

one at MGT on the 26th

Marsh Harrier

a juvenile was over PHF on the 7th

Honey Buzzard

one over Weston on the 1st

Barn Owl

one hunting near Groby Road, Maw Green on the 24th

a juvenile was at EHF/PHF 19th to 25th

a single at EHF on the10th, 34 over on the 26th

Arctic Tern

an adult and a juv were at EHF on the 12th

   

OTHER SIGHTINGS

Kingfisher

recorded at EHF, WLF and Rode Pool ~ Green Woodpecker regular in the Red Lane area, an adult plus 1 juv were recorded in University Way, Crewe on the 8th ~ a Little Egret was at EHF on the 12th ~ Spotted Flycatcher a pair plus 2 juvs were recorded at Warmingham, an adult plus 2 juvs at University Way Crewe, and a single at EHF ~ Wheatears on return passage were recorded at MGT on the 15th and 20th and also at Haslington ~ a Whinchat was at MGT on the 27th ~ Tree Pipits were recorded at Bradwall on the 13th and CBP on the 15th ~ 20 Tree Sparrows were at the EHF feeders on the 21st ~ Ravens were over EHF/PHF on the 2nd, 26th and 29th ~ a Marsh Tit was with the Tit flock in Red Lane on the 14th and 31st ~ Good numbers of Warblers are still present around EHF including Lesser Whitethroat, Common Whitethroat, Sedge, Reed and Willow Warblers, Chiff Chaff, Blackcap and Garden Warbler and for the first year in twelve, no Cuckoos have been recorded in the Smallwood area
