Obviously, I have really liked birding at Hornsby Bend in Austin, Texas. It was where I had my first experiences with experienced birders. The people are great and the quality of birders is top notch. I highly recommend going to their Celebration of their 50th Anniversary of birding at that location. It will be on October 8-11 next week. They will have an Owl Workshop on Thursday and Friday nights. There will be a Super Bird Survey on Saturday covering the whole property and a Big Sit Bird Count where they sit in the prime birding location (17 feet diameter area) and try to count as many birds as they can from that location for the day. There are a number of top quality birders who bird now or have birded there over the past years and there will be a reunion of many of these birders that weekend. If you can make it, I don’t think that you will be disappointed.
