I started early and heard a beeping sound that was a single note that was called regularly. I didn't think that this was a bird at first, it almost sounded mechanical. Itracked it down but could not get close enough for a picture or an ID because it was only a dark silhouette with the rising sun on the other side of it. I then walked back downhill and went to look at my new favorite birding location, the trail on the backside of the mountain from the house. My friend Mike was flying in that day and so I had to stay close to the house. While I was there, I heard the familiar call again and got some pictures of not only an adult but a juvenile Townsend's Solitaire.


As I walked further along the path I saw a bird that I originally thought was a Cuckoo that was being chased by a Stellars Jay. It was chased to a treetop near me and I got some pictures of thisguy, a Sharp-shinned Hawk


Later I found one of the only other Raptors that I saw during the week, a juvenile Redtailed Hawk
