Home Birding this week

I got a chance to check out my backyard today and I got a couple of good birds.  Actually, I got a few couples of birds.  The day started with a Redheaded Woodpecker that I thought was alone.  It turns out that it had a mate when it flew off..

I had a pair of Downy Woodpeckers that were chasing a third away from the suet.  I just got one picture of this female:

I actually had a family of Tufted Titmice but could only get a picture of an individual that was worth posting:

The Cardinals came in in droves.  I actually thought that I had a Pyrrhuloxia today, but it was an immature Cardinal.  I was reading about Identifying by ear and that is how I got my Redhead.  The immature Cardinal was chipping a different call, maybe asking for food?  Anyways, it had a dark bill and I was jumping to conclusions.  i was wrong.

There were a couple of Mourning Doves as well.

I only saw one of the Red-bellied Woodpeckers at a time, but they are nesting somewhere on my property.

I only got one Carolina Chicadee, but I wanted to show it anyways.

I did see my pair of Carolina Wrens, but they were sneaky and I didn't get any pictures.  I saw this pair last week, they were both males though.  I just wanted to show them off though.

My last pair were a mother and son who were eating at out deerfeeder:

Titmice

We often used to get Tufted Titmice but we rarely see them these days. I think that's because there's been so much habitat destruction in the Cypress area.

Beautiful!

These pics are gorgeous!
I have yet to see cardinals.
(The last pic seems to be a strange sort of bird :P )
Cheers from Hungary,
Nicole
