BELVIDE BIRDING

80 Sand Martin were present this afternoon also Chiffchaff have increased to 11. The 1st winter drake Scaup was still present also 60 Wigeon and 19 Shoveler were counted. 1 Dunlin was still present also 4 Redshank. A female Brambling was in the reservoir plantation. There were still 40+ Pied Wagtail int the field behind the Bryant hide also at least 20 Meadow Pipit. Finally the Barn Owl was hunting off the west lane from 6pm.

Hello Steve we have wagtails roost in huge numbers mabye 100 were I work along a ledge under somesteam pipes, my workplace is about 15miles north of Belvide, is this common to see pied wagtails in such numbers.

Hi Pete, it's not unusual to see Pied Wagtails roosting in such numbers. I know in Wolverhampton town center there is a roost of over 500 in the winter months.
