BELVIDE BIRDING

• Tuesday, May 29, 2007 - Belvide Fair with odd shower NW 3

The drake Common Scoter was still present off the dam. 2 Dunlin were new on the north shore with a single LRP and 2 Redshank that appear to be feeding young a couple of fields beyond the west marsh. A pair of Oystercatcher have hatched 3 chicks on the shingle island. Sadly 2 Great Crested Grebe chicks appear to have been predated at the west end and the Reed Warbler nest that appeared on the blog last week seems to have been washed out by the recent heavy rain. Also this afternoon a Hobby, Yellow Wagtail and Green Woodpecker were seen 6 Common Tern were counted and the Spotted Flycatchers in the reservoir plantation have now paired up.
