BELVIDE BIRDING

• Saturday, May 23, 2009 - Belvide Cloudy SSW 2-3

The Spotted Flycatcher (photo by Ken Mather) showed well in the reservoir plantation this morning. 2 Hobby were over stretton wood. The pair of Oystercatcher on the far west island have at least 1 chick. an imm female Goldeneye, and drake Wigeon remain.

Over the last few weeks the Brewood Ringing Group have surveyed the nest boxes on the reserve. A total of 34 out of 85 boxes were used which is 40%. 22 boxes were used by Blue Tits with a total of 145 chicks and 1 adult ringed. Great Tits used 10 boxes with a total of 51 chicks and 2 adults ringed. A Stock Dove was using one of the Owl boxes and a Tree Sparrow in the other. I would like to thank  the Brewood ringing group for all their hard work and effort.
