      This is a very distant shot of female. Formerly called "Natterer's Cotinga," (or "Natterer's Chatterer" the males are a spectacular blue and purple color. This species tends to sit very still in the canopy. It ranges from Panama to Ecuador.

      Cotinga's presumably originated in South America and spread into Middle America with the formation of the Panamanian land-bridge. They were formerly called "Chatterers." The current name, "Cotinga" is said to be from a Native South American name for these birds.
