This race of the Mantled Howler ranges from Costa Rica to Ecuador. They feed mostly on leaves, but this one is feeding on flowers of the Kapok Tree. It was part of a small troop which lived around the Canopy Tower which often broke into loud howls and moans for no apparent reason.
Here you can see the golden color to the back and the long guard hairs on its sides which give this species its name.
