Went to get a shot of the King Eider at Northam Burrows but the bird was too far out for anything but a record shot so took this one on the rocks instead.

Something not quite right here Roy. The very bold "bokeh" is rather distracting, and some parts of the bird are more in focus than others. Also a lot of "noise" judging by the clear areas in the background.
It would be useful if you included some more shooting data. But, still a very good shot and a beautiful bird - never been close enough to a M'ipit to get anything as good as this.

Full exif data is still attached Colin - 1/1250 sec, ISO 400, f5.6 and Manual Exposure.
I agree that the oof Rocks and sand is not ideal background but 'beggars cant be choosers'. I was surprised the bird let me get so close.
