Much better now Peter, given that the light was less than perfect. Don't EVER use auto settings in post processing - it might work for landscapes or portraits, but it does not work for birds.

Thats encouraging. Thank you for taking the trouble and time to advise me.
I have taken your point re auto settings. A lot more detail can be brought out by making your own adjustments. Auto has had the effect of burning out the detail from which it is difficult to recover.
I hope to be able to post some better images from now on.
