THE CAIRNGORMS AND SPEYSIDE - THE BIRDWATCHING AND WILDLIFE CLUB AT THE GRANT ARMS

Visit the Grant Arms Hotel

The Bird Watching and Wildlife Club has recently taken over and extensively refurbished the magnificent 55 bedroom Grant Arms Hotel in Grantown-on-Spey in the Cairngorms National Park. Former visitors include Queen Victoria and the present Queen. Speyside is one of the best birding and wildlife areas in the UK. Few places can offer the year round range of diversity. Golden Eagles, Capercallie, Pine Martens, Red Squirrels, Mountain Hares, Ptarmigan, Otters, Red and Black Grouse, Red Deer, Crossbills and, of course, Ospreys in Spring and Summer.

With high quality ensuite rooms including a four poster honeymoon suite and wonderful food the Grant Arms is a great place to stay. But it's more than that. From the moment you walk into the hotel you start to begin to notice the difference. From the information centre, the bookshop, the natural history library through to the 80 seat lecture theatre, this is a hotel for birders. Programme Director Toby Virgo will assist those who want to go off each day by themselves by telling them what's around, where to go and the best time to see it. For those who want escorted trips Toby can also provide advice on the many and varied trips available.

On arrival guests will find the Club's monthly Newspaper "The Watcher" in their bedroom together with maps, guides and birding magazines. Toby's team not only help with advice and guidance they also lay on free walks, talks and briefings.
