HADDENHAM, ELY - OLD PORCH HOUSE

Visit Old Porch House

The Old Porch House. Come and stay in the elegant wing of a magnificent Elizabethan Long House, built in the reign of Queen Elizabeth 1st and believed to have been visited regularly by Oliver Cromwell.

This impressive accommodation was constructed around 1600 and still retains its olde-worlde charm, including dairy and inglenook fireplace with bread oven. The house stands in wonderful grounds of three acres in the heart of the Cambridgeshire countryside close to the medieval city of Ely and university centre of Cambridge.

This self-contained wing of the Grade II listed building offers all the modern conveniences of the 21st century and sleeps up to six people.

The city of Ely is the jewel in the crown of the Fens and is rich in history and charm. Its skyline is dominated by the medieval cathedral, known as the 'Ship of the Fens', and home to the national stained glass museum. The University City of Cambridge is steeped in history offering a wealth of museums, medieval buildings, cafes, restaurants, and nightlife. Try your hand at punting or enjoy one of the many riverside walks. Visit the rugged Norfolk coast and the ancient city of Norwich. We are close to two great birdwatching venues Welney Nature Reserve and Wicken Fen
